Ride to Start of S2S - History

1-Day Ride takes the flatest route possible, riding goes north to Fremont and then through the hills on Niles Canyon to Pleasanton and Livermore. Then up over Corral Hollow and across the Central Valley along backroads near the Stanislaus River. Lunch at a market south of Tracy, reststops at Ripon and Knights Ferry, then on to Columbia. About 153 miles.

2-Day Ride was the same route as the 1-Day ride for the first few years, staying overnight in Ripon after 90 miles and then 63 miles on to Columbia the second day.

2-Day Ride was made better (more challenging) by going up over Mt.Hamilton and staying in Patterson at 73 miles. Then the second day went north for 18 miles to rejoin the 1-Day route through Ripon and Knights Ferry, finishing in Columbia, for 87 miles.

3-Day Ride was first done in 2006, due to the STTS start location changing to Bear Valley. The first two days remained the same - day 1 to Patterson on Thursday and day 2 to Columbia on Friday, and then on to Bear Valley on Saturday for day 3.
